Welcome to
"Bar Coaster Tic-Tac-Toe"
(Patent Pending)

The Concept:

Bar Coaster Tic-Tac-Toe was created by Michael Clark and Paul Vershbow during technical rehearsals for Dracula, The Musical at the La Jolla Playhouse.

The concept is that you have 10 indentical cardboard bar coasters. Draw an "X" on the back of 5 and an "O" on the back of the other 5. Shuffle the coasters and deal out 9 in a grid (marked side down), keeping the 10th also unrevealed.

The first player turns over any tile, and this determines his or her symbol (X or O). Players then alternate turns, and the first symbol to be revealed in a standard tic-tac-toe winning orientation (i.e., three in a row) wins.

The trick to Bar Coaster Tic-Tac-Toe is that any player could turn over any symbol. In some ways, the game is determined at the time it is dealt. However, it is also possible for a given deal to have more than one winning combination, in which case the winning symbol will also be determined by the order they are revealed.

How To Play:

Click on the tiles to reveal the X's and O's. The first symbol to be revealed three-in-a-row wins.
